Just Stop Oil protesters have been dragged off the roads by desperate motorists after bringing traffic in central London to a standstill on the ninth day of demonstrations.

Footage posted online showed one man shouting at activists: "I have to go to hospital... stop interfering with us."

He received applause as he began hauling the seated demonstrators off the road and onto the pavement. At least one other motorist was seen helping him to shift the protesters.

A Just Stop Oil protester was thrown to the ground during a physical confrontation in London with a furious member of the public.

Around 18 environmental activists were marching in Mansell Street, near the Tower of London, on Friday morning when they became involved in an altercation with a man, reported to be a motorist.

Video captured from a nearby building shows the man pushing several activists, one of whom fell to the ground, in an attempt to remove them from a bus lane where demonstrators were marching slowly.

The Oklahoma County Sheriff said Jackson Jones was dressed in police gear, touting a vest that said “sheriff,” alongside handcuffs, knives, and a flashlight on a tactical duty belt.
