Thousands flee Al Shifa hospital in Gaza amid nearby explosions

Heavy fighting has been reported around Gaza's main hospitals as thousands of people have reportedly fled the Al Shifa medical facility after explosions nearby.

The Israeli military claims they have allowed civilians to move south from areas in the north which have been hardest hit by airstrikes.

A doctor from the hospital has described it as the darkest day after the hospital collapsed away from any operable ability.

He also claimed the health system in Gaza had dissolved as people were leaving in their droves.

An IDF spokesperson has confirmed their military does not attack hospitals but has also claimed Hamas’ network of tunnels can run underneath medical buildings.
