Tens of thousands of pro-Palestinian demonstrators have marched through central London, with some chanting the contentious slogan “from the river to the sea, Palestine must be free”.

The chant has been interpreted as calling for the destruction of the state of Israel and is regarded as both offensive and threatening by many Jews.

The marchers wound their way down Regent Street towards Whitehall shouting the slogan, which Suella Braverman, the Home Secretary, has suggested could be regarded as a hate crime over which police could take action if it is seen as threatening public order.

Around the time that Israelis celebrate Independence Day, Palestinians commemorate “The Nakba,” or “The Catastrophe.” The Nakba was a series of events, centered around 1948, that expelled hundreds of thousands Palestinians from their homeland and killed thousands. The Nakba isn’t the beginning of the story, but it’s a key part of Palestinian history — and the root of Israel’s creation.

Prior to the Nakba, Palestine had a thriving population — largely made up of Arabs — that had lived and worked the land for centuries. But with the founding of Zionism, years of British meddling, and a British pledge to help create a Jewish state in Palestine — things began to change drastically. By 1947, with increasing tensions between Jewish settlers and Palestinian Arabs — the British left Palestine, and the UN stepped in with a plan to partition the land into two states. What followed was known as Plan Dalet: operations by Israeli paramilitary groups that violently uprooted Palestinians. An estimated 15,000 Palestinians were killed, more than 500 villages were decimated, and roughly 750,000 Palestinians displaced.

Most who were expelled from their homes couldn’t return to historic Palestine. And today, millions of their descendants live in refugee camps in Gaza, the West Bank and surrounding countries. The history of the Nakba has been deliberately concealed and often ignored in western narratives around the creation of Israel. In this episode of Missing Chapter, we break down how the Nakba happened — and how it defined the future of Palestine.

Pro-Palestine protesters set off smoke as they rallied on horseback outside the Texas State Capital on Sunday, November 12.

The protest is believed to be the largest pro-Palestine rally in Texas, since Hamas launched its terror attack on Israel on October 7.

Many protesters waved the Palestinian flag, and some covered themselves in a keffiyeh – a symbol of Palestinian nationalism.

Some protesters accused the Biden administration of lying, as they chanted; “Biden, Biden you’re a liar. We demand a ceasefire".

Israel’s Prime Minister dismissed calls for a ceasefire in Gaza, unless Hamas releases its more than 200 Israeli hostages.

Israel continues to unleash hell upon the 22-by-5-mile concentrated area of Gaza, in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, with relentless airstrikes and indiscriminate bombings of hospitals, residential buildings, schools, and other civilian sites. As besieged Palestinians shelter and flee and die within the walls of their cage in Gaza, Resistance forces are mobilizing to rise up against an Occupation that has presided over lives for 75 years.

Where there is occupation, there is resistance, and numerous Palestinian resistance groups exist across the Occupied Territories. These groups consist of occupied subjects turned freedom fighters—those who have been directly targeted by Israel, who have witnessed their friends and families die at the hands of occupying forces, and who have been labeled "terrorists" for resisting their slow extermination. In Jenin, a 1km square ghetto-like refugee camp in the occupied West Bank, and the target of numerous Israeli incursions, there are many who have chosen the path of armed resistance, and many who felt they had no other choice.

For those who suffer under the direct oppression and daily practices of apartheid—including the suspension of human and civil rights, military-imposed blockades and checkpoints restricting people's movements, the demolition of homes and killing of family members—there comes a breaking point. Generations of Palestinians, born into Occupation and violence, do not live a life of dignity. As they describe, under these conditions, they have nothing to live for and nothing to lose, and they have everything to fight for.

In July of this year, before the Oct. 7 Hamas-led attacks and Israel's genocidal retaliatory offensive in Gaza, The Real News Network spoke to members of the community in Jenin refugee camp about their lives under Occupation, the role of the Resistance there, and the fight for freedom.

Heavy fighting has been reported around Gaza's main hospitals as thousands of people have reportedly fled the Al Shifa medical facility after explosions nearby.

The Israeli military claims they have allowed civilians to move south from areas in the north which have been hardest hit by airstrikes.

A doctor from the hospital has described it as the darkest day after the hospital collapsed away from any operable ability.

He also claimed the health system in Gaza had dissolved as people were leaving in their droves.

An IDF spokesperson has confirmed their military does not attack hospitals but has also claimed Hamas’ network of tunnels can run underneath medical buildings.

At first, the drone flies high above a neighbourhood of Beit Hanoun, now a crumpled wasteland of ruins in the barren desert of northern Gaza after repeated Israeli airstrikes.

The chilling footage, shot by the Hamas-operated device itself, shows how it robotically shifts focus to find and hone in on its target. A black bomb, with a bright orange tail to help guide it, dangles mid-air for a few seconds and then drops.

The wide-angle shot narrows to reveal the explosive’s impact, just feet from a dozen resting soldiers of an Israeli infantry unit. Most jump to their feet, scattering through the smoke and running through the wasteland. Some appear to remain on the ground, their fate unknown.
