Wardens policing Sadiq Khan's ultra-low emission zone (Ulez) are now wearing balaclavas after Blade Runners shamed them on TikTok, The Telegraph can reveal.
The Labour Mayor of London has rolled out mobile automatic number plate vans (ANPR) in an attempt to prevail over the vigilantes determined to sabotage the green scheme.

The vans are being deployed on roads in outer London boroughs in the newly expanded zone, where older vehicles are charged £12.50 a day, but activists have been painting over camera lenses, deflating tyres and boxing them in with larger vans or placards to stop them catching motorists.
Now, as the guerrilla warfare blighting the capital escalates further, the wardens manning the vans on behalf of Transport for London (TfL) have begun donning balaclavas to cover their faces.
Critics of the scheme have called it "daylight robbery" for taxpayers, as TfL is paying officials undisclosed sums to operate the vans and security guards to follow behind in cars.
This newspaper has uncovered evidence of numerous Ulez van staff wearing black coverings over their faces and dark tinted glasses while on duty, brandishing energy drinks and mobile phones.
It follows weeks of viral clashes being filmed for the social media app TikTok, where anti-Ulez activists, who call themselves Blade Runners, have targeted van crews who then call the police, run away from angry locals and engage in heated arguments.

It has been revealed that Sadiq Khan's Deputy Mayor for the Environment, Shirley Rodrigues sought to interfere with scientists hired by the Mayor's office. Sadiq Khan relies upon their research as evidence to back up his unpopular Londonwide ULEZ expansion.
At the London Assembly's Plenary, Peter Fortune AM seconded a motion condemning the Mayor and his team's behaviour, and calling for ULEZ to be cancelled as a result.
Only the Conservatives on the London Assembly voted to support this motion.

Three people have been arrested after Just Stop Oil protesters sprayed orange paint over Wellington Arch in London.
The protesters set off smoke flares and sprayed paint on the Grade I listed structure using fire extinguishers shortly after 10am on Wednesday.
One of the activists, Joshua Lane, a 26-year-old engineer from Sheffield, said he felt “compelled to take action”.

Just Stop Oil (lower right) this morning shrugged off yesterday's public hostilities to step out in London - for yet another motorist-baiting rush hour slow march (top right). The orange-clad irritants (left) this time targeted Earl's Court Road with Friday's instalment of protests. Eight of them could be seen holding up white placards, featuring childish scrawl of campaigning slogans.

Just Stop Oil are now so unpopular that children - who the protesters repeatedly claim are the generation whose futures they are campaigning to save - have started berating them in the streets. Young learners from a local school were today seen reprimanding the slow-marchers as they made them late for classes. Orange-dressed eco campaigners this time selected Stratford and Ealing for their now-familiar street shuffle. But police at the east London demo appeared to be unworried this time as at first the highway hijack was not adjudged to be causing serious disruption. Moments later as the congestion got worse, they imposed a Section 12 order. One motorist, who the campaigners explained their cause too, seemed fairly unimpressed. He told them: 'I don't give a f*** get out of the way.'

Members of the public disrupted two protests from Just Stop Oil activists on Monday before the police shut them down, with one motorcyclist even driving through the protest.
In Camberwell, south London, a motorcyclist drove through a line of protesting slow marchers and threw their banner on the road, while elsewhere in London a cyclist tried to push past protesters, telling them to “f***ing move”.
In Islington, a cyclist attempted to move a group of protesters off the road by himself on Holloway Road.

A furious woman has gone viral online after she dragged a climate activist off a road by her hair to stop her from blocking traffic in Bottrop, Germany.
Police officers walking alongside the Just Stop Oil protesters in the middle of the road said there was nothing they could do because the group were not obstructing the highway.
The eco activists were back protesting in London on Wednesday morning, and again - like Monday - walked slowly in front of traffic in the capital.
It appears the new tactic has left the police unable to lawfully arrest protesters after Commander Karen Findlay vowed over the weekend to "arrive quickly, deal with the situation efficiently, remove and arrest activists as appropriate and return things to normal as soon as possible".
But officers were again criticised for not taking swift action, with police seen walking alongside activists at Barbican and Highbury Corner, just as they had done on the Strand on Monday.
One officer said: "They're not doing anything wrong at the minute - they're not obstructing the highway, it's still moving. It could potentially [go on indefinitely]."
Another officer, asked why they're not arresting the protesters, said: "They're walking down the highway and we're facilitating them."

Green energy industrialist Dale Vince has said he will stop funding eco-activists Just Stop Oil, saying he believes further protests would be “counterproductive” and “pointless” given the Government’s stance on drilling in the North Sea.
The Ecotricity founder, who has donated to both the Labour Party and Just Stop Oil, said he will instead focus on a new campaign called Just Vote, which aims to encourage people to exercise their democratic right.

Sadiq Khan has won a legal battle against five Conservative-led local councils in the High Court after a judge ruled he was ‘acting within his powers’ to expand London's Ultra Low Emission Zone next month.

Earlier today, the High Court announced it would hear the case on two further grounds for a challenge in the case brought by a coalition of Conservative councils against #ULEZ expansion. This is alongside the earlier two that were initially granted.
The Court's announcement further demonstrates the number of questions around the Mayor's questionable consultation and the expansion itself.
