Author Douglas Murray has slammed the attack on a priceless painting by Just Stop Oil protestors as “appalling”.
The two activists used emergency hammers to repeatedly strike the glass covering Diego Velázquez’s painting ‘Rokeby Venus’ in the National Gallery in London.
“This is what happens if you allow a two-year-old child to keep pushing,” Mr Murray said.
“The two-year-old child will keep pushing to get further and see what they can get away with – it’s just the same with these eco-vandals.
“Surprisingly enough, after they came with the soup and the glue, the next time they came with their mallets and their mallets.”

'In the graphic clip, a silver Mercedes can be seen pulled halfway across a road in West London having apparently crashed. A woman is then seen leaving the car and screaming 'Stop now, I'm pregnant', before another man gets out and angrily confronts the protesters, screaming: 'Stop now, stop recording, you little s***.' The man is then seen to violently punch one activist in the face before stamping and kicking him while he lies prone on the ground.

A spokesperson for Just Stop Oil broke down live on air after protesters from her organisation invaded the stage at a West End performance of Les Miserables.
Asked whether the action was appropriate, Zoe Cohen emotionally asked "How many more people have to die?" and stated, "the only thing that people will regret is not taking action".

A paramedic responding to a “life-and-death” emergency begged police to let him through a Just Stop Oil protest.
Sixty activists from the eco group spent 30 minutes slow-marching on Waterloo Bridge on Wednesday morning, causing the busy carriageway to be shut in both directions for an hour.
An ambulance soon arrived with blue lights and sirens but was held up in the gridlocked traffic for about 10 minutes.
The driver of the ambulance said: “I am responding to a life-and-death emergency - I am going to pick up a team from Guy’s hospital to save someone’s life at another hospital but can’t get through.”

The mob has had enough of Just Stop Oil. Yes, you know the ones, the groups of activists who sit on the road and block trucks from passing, glue their hands to concrete and throw paint during sporting events.
But normal everyday citizens have had enough. They’re no longer paralysed by fear of judgement or being cancelled. The mob is taking things into their own hands after being let down time and time again by lawmakers.
Just Stop Oil protestors tried to prevent people boarding the Bibby Stockholm barge in Portland.
A number of people were being taken on board the vessel at the Dorset port more than two months after it was evacuated following the discovery of Legionella bacteria in the water supply.
As the eco-protesters tried to halt the progress of the bus, the driver refused to stop, making those sitting on the ground have to move out of the way very quickly.

Just Stop Oil protesters descended on Waterloo Bridge today as they slow-marched and sat in the road, bringing rush-hour traffic chaos to Central London . The demonstration began at about 9.30am, and the Metropolitan Police told the activists to move out of the road to continue protesting on the pavement. Scotland Yard said officers were on scene within a minute of the report and began making arrests when the protesters failed to comply with the order. A paramedic begged police to be given access through the road, saying he was trying to save someone's life.

A fuming driver got out of his car to confront the 'stupid' Just Stop Oil eco-zealots for disrupting traffic in the capital today. The motorist approached the group while they were marching in the middle of Mile End Road, east London.
He got out of his vehicle, walked over to a protester - who retreated as the driver got closer - and launched a furious rant: 'You have a problem with the Government, do you not? So why are you blocking the road?' Just Stop Oil has been carrying out slow marches through the streets of London for months now in a bid to get the Government to halt all new oil, gas and coal projects in the UK.

British businessman and founder of Pimlico Plumbers Charlie Mullins has pledged to pay the £12.50 ULEZ charge “for every NHS nurse” in September.
“All they have to do is send me the receipt,” he tells TalkTV’s Kevin O’Sullivan.
London has become the world’s largest pollution charging area after ULEZ was expanded to include the whole capital.
People who drive in the zone in a vehicle that does not meet minimum emissions standards are now required to pay a £12.50 daily fee or risk a £180 fine, reduced to £90 if paid within 14 days.
Criticising the London-wide expansion, Charlie says: “It’s time to dump the Mayor.”

THIS is the moment one of Sadiq Khan's ULEZ cameras is CUT DOWN at night by a man using an angle grinder.
In the video, the man can be seen climbing up a traffic light before slicing away the device, letting it crash down onto the pavement below.
Footage circulating on social media, apparently filmed by either the vandal or their accomplice, was largely showered with praise online as Khan's ULEZ scheme continues to cause controversy.
Between 1st April to 31 August, the Metropolitan Police have recorded 510 crimes relating to ULEZ cameras, with 351 of them being damaged and 159 stolen.

Thousands of drivers who have failed to pay the new Greater London Ulez have been sent warning letters rather than £180 fines, it can be revealed.
Transport for London has confirmed that many motorists have escaped an immediate penalty as it pursues a phased approach to enforcing the Londonwide ultra-low emission zone.
Letters headed “Ultra Low Emission Zone contravention warning notice” have begun arriving at the homes or workplaces of drivers who failed to pay the £12.50 daily levy this week.

London's controversial ULEZ expansion will go ahead after the High Court rejected an attempt by five London councils to scupper the scheme.
The expansion will come into force from 29 August and see the drivers of the most polluting vehicles charged £12.50 a day to use them.

Tory Minister for London Paul Scully says vigilante 'blade runners' attacking ULEZ cameras, "puts more onus on the taxpayer to pay for the replacements."
The Metropolitan Police announced that between April and September 2023 they recorded 795 crimes relating to vandalism toward new ULEZ cameras.
This includes 200 instances of cameras being stolen and 595 incidents of damage.
The figures come as part of an ongoing police investigation launched in May to combat acts of vandalism against the cameras.
